DACGS Society Meeting

“DNA – The Good, the Bad and the Ugly”

Cindy Barber will be the May 12, 2021 guest presenter and will discuss the benefits, pitfalls, and dangers of using DNA testing to supplement genealogical research. This presentation will start with the basics, explore some scenarios and end with a strategy. Cindy will be available after the presentation to answer questions.

Cindy Barber has held positions of leadership in several Genealogy Societies and served on the Board of the Center for Lifelong Learning in Ft. Walton Beach, Florida. She has taught Advanced Genealogy, DNA, Microsoft Publisher, and Stories classes at family history fairs and libraries, and has held workshops on various techniques.  Although now trying to 'really' retire, in North Ft. Myers, Florida, Cindy has lived in New Mexico.  A move to Anthony, New Mexico in 1998 let her realize her dream of owning her own "Black Beauty" - a government bred Morgan, named Black. She and Black rode many miles each week on the mesa above Gadsden High School. Cindy lives with her husband of 22 years, plays a little golf, volunteers on the Rutledge Surname Project, and leads a monthly SIG on Family Tree Maker. She mentors and takes on interesting projects with others while working to use DNA to expand her own cousin network.

Due to Coronavirus concerns, presentations will be held online via Zoom.  DACGS members will receive an invitation and instructions for joining the meeting via email.

For Non-DACGS members:  We invite you to join our meeting by sending an e-mail request, including your telephone number, to: dacgslc@gmail.com requesting instructions to attend the meeting. The request, with phone number, must be received two (2) days prior to the meeting.
